I loved having the opportunity to capture Lane and Sara’s winter wonderland wedding. This couple has been such a breeze to work with and their wedding day was fun and effortless. I never saw any indication of stress from anyone involved and this thoughtful couple definitely had a special day.

One thing I really enjoyed about this couple is the fact that they incorporated their own special handshake and a pinky promise into their vows. The whole ceremony fit them perfectly and I know that there will be many years of joy ahead of them.

Let me start out by saying that I want to steal April’s eyes (holy cow – so beautiful).  That is all.

From our very first consultation, I fell in love with April and Michael.  There is just a “click” that sometimes happens and you know that everything surrounding that couple is just going to rock.  April and Michael were married at a private residence and everything that day was gorgeous and perfect.  April is one of the most gracious and kind brides I have ever worked with and Michael is such a charming and calm fellow.  And they are perfect together.  I looked around at all of their guests during the ceremony and I don’t think there was a dry eye to be seen – you could just feel the love and joy everyone feels for this special couple.  On a whim, we stopped off at a nearby park before their reception and were able to get some fun couple shots (I’m so happy that they responded well to my “You know what would be fun? … ” remark).  I’m so blessed to have clients like April and Michael that evolve into friendship.  Shortly after their wedding, the couple found out that they are expecting a little one, which is so exciting!  April and Michael – thanks for allowing me to be part of your wedding day and for being so great to work with.  Congratulations on your marriage and family in the making! I am soooo happy to have such FUN couples like Tiffany and Jared to work with! Everything about their wedding was well thought out and a blast to experience. Tiffany and Jared’s officiant had known them for most of their lives and as a result, their ceremony was full of heartfelt emotions, memories, and reflection. I felt like I had known the couple for years after it was all said and done – so amazing! After the sweet “first kiss” (followed by Tiffany handcuffing Jared before walking back down the aisle), it was party time. And a party it was. Tiffany has studied dancing and is a professional dancer (along with many of her guests). She and her bridesmaids did a special routine and just the general dancing that night was stellar (I felt like I was in a movie!). I love the energy and passion Tiffany and Jared share.

Don’t let the lack of posts fool you… there were tons of sessions and great weddings at the end of 2010. I’ve been tied up more than normal and can’t wait to tell you all about some of the amazing couples I’ve worked with. Amazing couples like April and Louis.

When I think about April and Louis, I imagine a big fairy tale book with gold and jewels and stuff on it. They have such a sweet love that it’s only fitting to have an elaborate cover for it! If I’m not mistaken, I believe these two met while setting up a friend to go on a date with the other or something like that. It all worked out and these two love birds found their way to one another.

I’m going to get a little ahead of myself, but when I was shooting their ceremony, a song was sung during their unity candle. It was gorgeous and moving and totally made me soft inside. April and Louis just held one another and I think everyone in the room felt the genuine, pure emotions they have for one another. After the music stopped, their officiant announced that Louis had written the song. How romantic is that?!? For reals, people… it was amazing and I am so impressed with his talent and love for her!

Okay – back to our regularly scheduled program. I a-dore April and Louis. Before their ceremony, they did a “first look” which was totally great. The little expressions and smiles of anticipation on Louis’ face were priceless and I could feel just how eager he was to see April. Seriously one of the cutest moments. Ever.

It was crazy raining on April and Louis’ wedding day, so we made use of my umbrella I had used to get me and my gear inside in a “dry” state. After their touching and heartfelt ceremony, it was time to party! The reception was crazy fun and I was delighted to run into some friends/past Red Brick clients (always a hoot).

I love watching newlyweds interact and can just feel the fresh and saturated commitment through the glances and touches throughout the evening. I know that April and Louis are rock solid in their faith and that they will be loyal to one another through thick and thin. Theirs is and will continue to be a great love story indeed! Zebra print, twirling bridesmaids, and a fake leg. All of these things were found at Valerie and Jason’s wedding.  I absolutely love couples that break the mold and infuse their weddings with unexpected surprises.  And to top it all off, they have been adorable to work with for their engagement and bridal sessions.  These two have been melting me for months and I was anxious for their big day.

My favorite part of the whole day was when Valerie and Jason held hands between a door just minutes before their ceremony. They couldn’t see each other, but you could feel their anxiousness and sweet emotion. Jason is so totally nuts for Valerie and the way he looked at her coming down the aisle was right up there with my top memorable moments.  The ceremony was so full of meaning, as Valerie’s dad officiated (so sweet!).

Valerie and Jason wanted their wedding to reflect their personalities and relationship.  From the “zebra” bridesmaids dancing down the aisle to the shoe-shaped cake knife to the “fake leg” trick during the garter toss, they really had fun and enjoyed the entire evening.  This couple is mega adored by their family and friends and their guests enveloped them with celebration.

Valerie and Jason – thanks sooo very much for letting me be a part of your fun and unique wedding.  Congratulations on your beautiful marriage to one another!

I will never forget Codie and Steven’s wedding.  Ever.

And I wasn’t even there.

When I became pregnant and found out my due date, I had a bit of concern.  Codie and Steven’s August wedding was three weeks before Paisley’s estimated arrival.  I heard from many people that first babies go overdue more than they come early, so my worry level decreased.  Even so, months before their wedding, I had lined up my buddy and awesome photog Ian Williams to shoot should something unexpected occur (all of this was with Codie and Steven’s complete approval and support, of course).  My due date approached and all was well.  I was still shooting and working and truckin’ along.  I felt like some super awesome preggo lady that could leap over tall buildings and do just about anything.  But then some complications came up and I was put on bed rest a week before the wedding.  I. Was. Bummed.  To say the least.

When talking to Codie and Steven that week about the implementation of our Plan B, I was so grateful for their flexibility and understanding.  (Have I mentioned that I have the best clients in the world?)  Even though I wouldn’t be there, I was meeting with Ian the night before to go over Codie and Steven’s details, shot list, etc.  But Paisley had some plans of her own.  My complications became…um, more complicated…and I was told to go to the hospital that Friday night.  Thinking that I would just be waiting and laying around a lot that evening, I took all of Codie and Steven’s paperwork with me in the off chance that Ian and I could meet up at the hospital and go over everything.  Mostly, I expected to be monitored for a bit and sent home.  Wrong.  Within an hour or two of being admitted, I was told that I was going to be induced the next morning.  And then the fun began – they started magnesium (which made me feel like I had the flu) and told me that the induction would begin at 6:00 a.m.  Knowing that babies take a long time to arrive (especially first ones), I expected to have a lot of down time the following morning and Ian agreed to come up to the hospital to talk about Codie and Steven’s big day.  Looking back, I acknowledge this plan was nuts, but all of this made perfect sense to me at the time. And nobody around me voiced any objections, so I filed it in my “good idea” folder that day.

Pitocin (the artificial hormone that makes your body go into labor) was administered promptly at 6:00 a.m.  My estimate on how labor would progress was wrong.  Oh so very wrong.  Ian showed up that morning (around 8:00-ish) and I was smack dab in the middle/end of the crazy hard labor stage.  Correction - a crazy hard epidural/pain med-free labor.  I remember going over the sheet and some details with Ian between contractions but to this day, I cannot remember what I said.  Such details were victims of the post-labor memory dump that our bodies miraculously do.

I do recall, however, thinking about Codie and Steven that morning – a lot.  I knew that each of them were probably getting up that morning and that they had pre-ceremony butterflies of excitement.  I was heartbroken that I wouldn’t be there but was so grateful to have a competent shooter in my place so I didn’t have to stress about the service or product they were getting.  Even as something as simple as going over details about them as a couple and what they wanted was a priority to me that morning.  I wanted to do everything I could to take care of them.  About an hour and a half after Ian left, Paisley Grace was born.

What is really cool about Codie and Steven is that as I went through their images to edit, I totally felt the love and joy that was present at their wedding.  I saw it in their eyes.  I saw it on their guests’ faces.  That’s the thing about those pure, strong emotions – they just leap out.  Ian told me that the wedding was a blast and that everyone he encountered was so awesome.  I know that Codie and Steven have so many good times ahead and I can’t wait to do their Happily Ever After session with them soon!  They are so so so cute and you can tell how much fun they had on their wedding day!

Ian – thanks for being a great friend, competent help, and for doing a great job for Codie and Steven.

Codie and Steven – congratulations a million times over on your beautiful, love-filled wedding.  I admire your saturated devotion to one another and am so happy that we each could experience a big milestone on your special day.

How can you not absolutely adore a bride who has a red wedding dress and boots???

I love love love when couples integrate themselves into their wedding and make it their own… just like Katie and Roger did. These two are so laid back and blissfully in love that you can’t help but to smile when they interact with one another.  I still feel all warm and fuzzy when I see the photo of Roger’s reaction to Katie walking down the aisle – you’ve never seen a groom so smitten with the sight of his soon-to-be wife.

Katie and Roger’s wedding was such a joy to be a part of and I enjoyed all of the excitement of their guests (who were clearly stoked for the union of these two sweet individuals). Everyone feasted on Mexican food that the couple catered in from their favorite restaurant.  Katie and Roger were married at the lovely Lockheart Chapel and held their reception at the Lockheart Gables Bed and Breakfast in Fort Worth.  Even though it was June, we were blessed by some breezes that kept things cool and beautiful. 

(Also – a special thanks to sweet husband, Jeromy, for helping me shoot and for helping his preggo wife up off the ground for “low shots”!)

Congratulations to these special newlyweds, who are already enjoying their new phase of life together – it was so much fun to experience this milestone with you both!

Jamie and Jeremiah’s wedding was SUCH a pleasure to be a part of. Not only was the entire day drop-dead beautiful – from the décor to the location (Occasions at Stone River in Royse City) to the weather – but you just can’t find sweeter clients than these two. Jamie and Jeremiah are both kind, gracious, cheerful, lovely people who are adorable together. Their wedding was totally smooth and blissful from beginning to end and their family/friends couldn’t have been any more amazing and fun. Jamie and Jeremiah make a stunning couple and I could just shoot them all day.

I was tickled to have fellow photog, Ian Williams, to second shoot with me for Jamie and Jeremiah’s special evening. There were so many beautiful details and emotions everywhere we looked! I have to admit that I’m a total sucker for the green apple motif and really dug all the wonderful details. So so so beautiful.

It was a heartfelt evening – from the sweet vows to the thoughtful toasts to the tender way Jamie and Jeremiah’s hands touched during their first dance. I love when I can really feel the strong bond between a bride and groom and I know that these two are going to enjoy a solid marriage together.

Wedding season has kicked off and there is sweetness everywhere!

Love was definitely in the air at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens when Tanisha and Guy tied the knot. This laid-back couple shares a solid bond and I loved seeing the tenderness they share. It was also cool to see how close Guy’s family and Tanisha were – it was apparent both in the ceremony and at the reception that Guy’s parents were delighted to have Tanisha added to their family! After some quick snaps in the garden, the couple enjoyed a casual, fun reception with their close friends and family. I also want to extend a special thanks to the sweet bridesmaid and gentleman who helped me get back out to my car (which was parked forever away in the dark)!
